Mun has HFMD

On Sunday, the day Jeng came back home for the first time, Mun suddenly had high fever in the evening. She was very grouchy and cried without any reason in the middle of the night. On Monday morning, as she was still not well and agitated, we decided to bring her to Dr Belinda. Poh brought her there and she was diagnosed with Hand Foot and Mouth disease without the hand and foot - her mouth was full of ulcers! Poor girl!

Unfortunately, it is highly contagious and she was not allowed to meet either Jeng or myself as I can be a carrier. Both of them went straight to my mom's place from the clinic to reduce contact with Jeng and myself. Therefore, began a week of agonizing stress!

We tried to not meet for at least a few days, but I missed Mun so much that I couldn't even stand a few hours! So Mun came back in the evening for a while but she was not allowed to touch Jeng or me. Poor girl couldn't understand why and we could see that she was equally sad when I couldn't hug her, especially when she was feeling so sick. At night, they sleep at Queens. This lasted until Wednesday when we decided to let her come back home as Jeng was OK and it was quite stressful for all of us.

The only upside to this was Mun could still eat quite OK even though her mouth was full of ulcers. Photos taken on Wednesday when she is back at home.

Jeng going back home

Jeng had a bit of jaundice, but Dr Belinda allowed him to go home :)

Mun kept touching Jeng. She must be very curious with this 'di-di' we kept telling her about

I think Jeng looks like very much like Mun-mun when she was a baby

Baby Jaden

I had contractions on 24th evening, but as I had been having contractions quite often, so I wasn't sure if it was the real thing. Contractions became quite consistent from 2am onwards and by 3+am, it was felt every 5-10 minutes. Then we decided to go to labour ward to let the midwives assess whether I was really in labour.

We went to Mount Elizabeth at about 4am. After some assessments, they confirmed that I was in labour, so then we went on with the procedure which I won't go into detail. I had the epidural jab and as with Mun-mun, it was quite a painful jab :S I couldn't feel contraction once I had the jab, but around 9am+ I started to feel pain again. The nurses said it could be because the baby travelled lower and the epidural wasn't effective - they didn't elaborate much but I couldn't be bothered anyway.

By the way, my gynae, Dr Dolly Wee was on a long holiday for the Chinese New Year. She was due back on, guess what, 26th Feb, 11am. I had a substitute gynae, Dr Selina Chua, and she came in around 8am to have a look at me. She then burst my water bag and told me Dr Wee will be in time to deliver my baby. By 9+ when I told the nurses that I could feel pain, they called Dr Wee, and it seemed that she had just touched down and was waiting for luggage at the airport. Around 10am, I felt that the baby will come out anytime but in the end, he waited for Dr Wee. It seemed that his head was quite big and his heartbeat was falling, so Dr Wee had to use the help of a vacuum to deliver the baby.

Then, there we have, Baby Jaden :)
